Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Location: Oakland, CA
Owner: Alta Bates Summit Medical Center
Completion: 2000

We designed four catheterization labs at the Alta Bates campus. For this Cath Lab, the goal was primarily to replace old equipment with a new high speed Philips Integris bi-plane machine and monitoring equipment. The room is arranged similar to an operating room to allow for a sterile environment to safely allow for the invasive nature of the procedures. We were also asked to interconnect the digital out-put of the machine and two others that can be read at multiple stations throughout the Radiology Department. The power and computing equipment supporting the machine is concealed behind full-height, rift-cut oak doors, bringing natural materials into the room and concealing the noise.
