Highland Hospital Radiology Department

Location: Oakland, CA
Owner: Alameda County Medical Center
Completion: 2011

The underutilized Radiology Department needed to add critical diagnostic and treatment services to support its Emergency Department Trauma Center. Working with the Hospital's steering committee, Kava Massih Architects began the planning to integrate 3 new major pieces of diagnostic equipment in a relatively small Radiology Department. Several different alternatives and workflow studies were evaluated before settling on its final organization.

We designed the project to occur in three major phases to keep the essential Radiology Department operational during construction. The Angio/Cath Suite, Rad/Fluoro Room and CT Scanner Suite were integrated with their dedicated support space contributing to overall department functionality. At the completion of all phases, the improved organization and efficient workflow helps the medical staff give more attention to patients.
