Key Curriculum Press

Location: Emeryville, CA
Developer: 65th Street Development Company
Completion: June 2000

Key Curriculum Press, a publisher of educational software and books, occupied a 2-story office building with an adjoining warehouse. Our new design more than doubled the building’s square feet, making it possible Key Curriculum Press to expand.

We converted a single story warehouse into 27,000 square feet of new commercial office space on three levels. With a total of 27,000 square feet in the new design, the first two floors were fit below the existing warehouse roof, with the third floor extending up above it, providing panoramic views of San Francisco across the Bay. By strategically cutting away at the façade, we were able to provide light to the interior and relief to the street. Above the entry, a dramatic elliptical opening in the roof helps to redefine the presence of the building in the neighborhood.
